Anyone who owns a smart phone knows touch screens have been around for a while and like a lot of today’s technologies they come at a price.
What you mightn’t know is that price has come down to a point where they’re now being incorporated into the likes of video brochures and portable POS material. Meaning everyday touch technology is literally at your fingertips for a fraction of the cost.
So how does it work and how are these new economies achieved? Simply put – through ‘resistive’ touch technology.
It’s a process employing several layers of glass and flexible plastic with a conductive coated material printed underside. A corresponding layer is printed in the same material and when fingertip pressure is applied the two meet to create a contact and actuate a command.
It’s a lot less complicated than previous technologies hence the ability to economically employ it for a range of new uses.
