So you have made the decision to get some video brochures produced and you want this project to not only have wow factor but also shine.  The first port of call is what type of finish should you have on the card.  Well to help you get started here a few suggestions and a brief explanation of each:

Lamination

This is done by adding a layer of protective coating to the surface to improve its sturdiness as well as also give it a smooth finish.  There are often two types of lamination and they are High Gloss Laminate which is applied to the surface to give it contrast and sharpness, and Matte Laminate a more subdued but elegant and stylish finish.

Spot UV Varnish

Is a gloss varnish that is applied to chosen or specific parts of the card.  This highlights and draws attention to those areas but also results in a glossy coating to that part of the surface.

Embossing and debossing

Embossing is the process of raising parts of the card for emphasis and texture.  It adds physical depth as well as a tactile dimension to the design.

Debossing produces the opposite effect depressing the affected area.

Foil Stamping

Is the application of a metallic foil often silver or gold applied to various elements of the design by using heat and pressure.  It adds luxury and is generally used on text or a logo.

There are plenty more finishes that can be done however these are the most common that we do. Yes they do add a little extra to the overall cost but if you want your brochure to go from good to amazing then any of the above finishes will do this.
