Our electrical safety standards are there for good reason. After all, who wants to deal with potential hazards like fire and electrocution? Even so, there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors surrounding which standard is the right one. In actual fact it’s not that hard given there’s only one and you can easily identify it by the RCM tick. It signifies the Regulatory Compliance Mark and it means the supplier has taken all necessary steps to ensure the product complies with legislative requirements. It’s intended as an easy way for consumers to identify products that do their job without endangering the operator. What does that mean to you? If it doesn’t have the tick, there are no guarantees and if you purchase products without it you may be in for a big shock in more ways than one.
